The Princess Theme Bedroom Idea for Girls – Kids Bedroom Ideas
Designing and decorating a little girl’s room is straightforward because of the wide variety of themes and things to choose from. Princess, mermaid and fairy themes are amongst the most popular with girls of any age. When designing a little girl’s bedroom, ask her what she wants. Does she prefer pink over purple? Does she like Princess Belle over Ariel? Get cues from her likes and dislikes and draw inspiration from that. It is so easy to let your head go with a girl’s bedroom theme and when choosing the draperies, bedding and furniture. All the frills, froufrou and pink will encourage many enchanted hours of playing quietly and satisfied sleep full of contentment.
The Princess Theme Bedroom Idea for Girls
Fulfill her dream to be a princess with a princess themed bedroom.
The Walls – Paint the walls soft pink or lavender to give that opulent look. Use stencils or stickers of crowns, tiaras or a silhouette of a princess on the walls. Add cornice molding all around the room and paint it in white to give that regal effect.
The Bed – If your budget permits, buy a four poster bed fit for the royal princess with a canopy above it. Alternatively drape a sheer fabric over the headboard of the existing bed. Looking for princess theme bedding will not be difficult. You will find an array of designs and styles on the internet and in your local department store. Choose motifs with crowns, Disney princesses and pink to appeal to the young little princess. Alternatively, choose paisley, scrolls and fleur-de-lys designs in cream color to get a more sophisticated look. Don’t forget to buy or make a bed skirt to give that grandiose effect on the bed.
The Accessories – Now a glass chandelier for the ceiling, antique look lamps for the tables and sconce lighting for the walls will compliment the feel. These don’t necessarily need to be new as thrift shops or weekend markets will often turn up many treasures. Often these can be bought for a ‘song’.
However an existing shade can be transformed to fit the princess theme for her room. Look for stencils in the design of scrolls and filigree at the craft store or online. Use gold or silver paint to trace the stencil. Place the stencil design on the top and bottom of the shade. Use gold or silver paint on the base of the lamp. You can also use the same technique on cabinets, bookshelves, tables and chairs.
Buy a vanity dresser for your little princess. It can be as simple as a white dresser with matching chair or as elaborate as a Marie Antoinette replica vanity. With a simple white dresser line the edges of the table with faux pink boa as well as colorful gems. Another great idea for the simple white dresser is to stick molding on the sides of the table as well as the chair. Decorate the table top with princess things such as tiaras, crowns and naturally lots of jewelry!
A princess inspired rug is a great way to add to the theme of the room. You can easily find Disney princess rugs for little girls and Persian-style rugs for a tween. Add heavy drapery or window treatments with a paisley or flowery design. You can find curtain rods and royal-inspired finials to complete the princess theme for the windows.
