The Barbie Bedroom Idea for Girls
Barbie dolls have been admired and loved by little girls and grown up women since 1959. She is the fashion icon, doctor, astronaut, movie star and even an art teacher that girls look up to. Currently there are about a billion Barbie dolls since her debut! What I like the most about Barbie is it lets little girls use their imagination through the fashion and accessories that can be paired with the doll.
I once had a Peaches and Cream Barbie – a Christmas gift from my parents. I loved her so much that I slept with her for the whole year. I would save my lunch money just to buy her new clothes and dress her differently every day.
Barbie is a great theme for a little girl’s bedroom. Accessories and furniture inspired by Barbie are easy to find. So if you are thinking of gifting your little girl a Barbie room, it’ll be amazingly simple.
The Walls – For a Barbie room, there is one color for it – PINK. The shade of pink that is bright and sunny like Barbie. Paint the walls in pink and the borders stark white. Look for wall decals or stickers of Barbie’s image or silhouette and place it on one of the walls. Instead of using wall decals personalize the room by using photographs of your daughter’s Barbie collection. Frame the photos and hang them on the walls.
The Bed – Keep the bed frame white then accessorize with color. On the bed use pink linen or Barbie themed bed sheets, blankets and pillow cases. Buy plush throw pillows that have feathers or a boa on the edges to give the bed a quirky look.
The Accessories – Keep the furniture including the closet, bookshelves and chairs in white. However, if you fancy a little splash of color, paint the insides of the closet and bookshelves in pink. Place either a plain pink rug or one with the silhouette of Barbie near the bed and her dressing area. Buy her a Barbie bust for her to play dress up with. Elegantly spruce up the dresser by placing a pink boa around the mirror. Change the knobs of the dresser and closet with pink star or dainty glass knobs.
As for the window treatments, place star or flower ends on a white rod. The plain pink curtain or Barbie curtains that are available online on their website will do here. As for the lighting fixture, choose a glass chandelier with a white frame and color the remainder in pink. If elements of this design need changing you can gain inspiration from your daughter’s doll collection.
