The Animal Bedroom Idea for Toddler and Preschooler
An animal theme bedroom for your child is one of the easiest ways to decorate. There are many stuffed toys and other animal themed accessories you can purchase.
The Walls – To create a barn theme for your little one, you need some paint and some basic carpentry skills. Paint a countryside mural on one of the walls. Cut out wood that looks like a fence and paint it white. Place a farm animal sticker or decal on one of the walls where you will put the faux fence. Install the faux fence over the farm animal sticker to give the illusion that the animal is in an enclosure. Cardboard, although not as sturdy, can be painted and used instead of wood to make a fence.
The Bed – Make a barn door to use as a headboard. Paint it brown and place the bed adjacent to the countryside mural. Make use of barn inspired bedding sets. If it is too much to have the animals on the sheets, use solid colors such as red, blue and white as your base.
Accessories – Place animal figurines on tabletops and stuffed animals beside the bed.
You can also use items from around your home to accessorize your child’s barn themed bedroom. You can use that wicked gift of the rooster salt and pepper shaker as an ornament for your child’s room. Or perhaps the wicker basket your good neighbor gave you as a welcoming gift can be used as a storage bin for toys and books. An interesting look that children love is cute animal appliques that you iron out on fabric. For example sheep appliques on the edge of the pillowcases, blankets and draperies look so sweet!
